Not sure why this is listed with 2009 reviews, they fixed some bugs |
Roxio probably should have relisted this on another section of Cooksale because I had the 2009 version and had similar issues and would not have tried the 2010 version becasue of it had I not 1. Used it at my brother's house and liked it and 2. Gotten my new copy.
What I didn't like is that no instruction manual came with it. Yes, I know there are tutorials but if I am in the middle of trying to do something it's my personal preference to have a manual. That may or may not be your preference. If it was more intuitive that would be fine, but not everything was easy for me to figure out how to do. The software that came with my flip cameras were more intuitive. Granted this software does far more, but even just editing a film and putting it together was hard for me to figure out at first.
That's why it lost a star for me. The time I spent being confused.
However, once I DID "get it", it made for great films and way better ways of personalizing my films than my Flip software contained. Playing with theme movies where it adds in really cute Hollywood style effects was a bonus. Being able to really personalize titles, credits, etc was great as well.
Worked quickly once I learned how to do it.
Whereas the 2009 version slowed down my computer, this did not...so, other than the learning curve, I have no complaints and am putting together great and fun videos for family and friends. |

Horrible, horrible, horrible |

If you have Windows 7, STAY AWAY from this...it just does not work!!! And their customer service is just awful...They pay no attention to what you are asking. After 3 weeks of frustration trying to make it work, I actually returned the Roxio for a refund. Save your money and get Windows Live MovieMaker (free download from Microsoft) |

Great product! |
I have used Roxio products for many, many years, and have always found them to be very sufficient for my needs. When I got a new computer in the spring and upgraded to Windows 7, I was disappointed that I could no longer use my old version of Roxio Easy Media Creator. I decided to take a chance on Roxio Creator 2010, despite some very bad reviews that I read here and other places....and I'm glad that I did!
The transition has not been seamless---as many of the features that I use regularly have been tweaked or renamed. The learning curve was a little steeper than I had anticipated. But, with the help of the Roxio Community, which I found online, I have overcome every hurdle and just finished my first DVD---several hundred photos, broken into five different productions and all set to music. It'll be played at my Class Reunion in two weeks.

Waste of Money |

Just bought a new computer and this piece of crap was my only alternative for digital video/audio creating software. I've had the pleasure of using Nero Burning ROM for the last 10 years and have never used Roxio. Well, I'm off to buy the latest and greatest Nero and throwing this software away. It's difficult to use. It does unexplainable things to the music. It's counterintuitive. Do I need say more? Go out and buy Nero Burning ROM. STAY AWAY FROM ROXIO. You won't be disappointed. |

Disclaimer: I'm reviewing a copy I received for free through the Vine program.
It's OK, but maybe you can find something cheaper that will also do what you want.
I've only tested some basic functionality; it installed OK (on Windows XP SP3), and burns CD's OK. Just beginning to get into experimenting with video files and DVD's.
But there are free, or cheap, alternatives, so I'm not sure that I would go out and purchase this product.
